PANAKEIA "THE CURE FOR EVERYTHING"

Panakeia was the daughter of Asclepius and Epione, sister of the goddess Hygeia, Iasius and their other children. She was worshipped mainly in Oropos of Attica and her figure is also represented in the Asclepius of Athens. As she was considered a goddess capable of curing any disease, the ancients called herbs "panakes", which were used in many treatments and to heal wounds. The word "panacea" is derived from the word "pan" meaning “everything” and the verb "akeomai" which means to heal.
Today it is used literally for the medicine that cures all diseases, as well as figuratively the solution and cure for all problems.
